The stage is set for a riveting spectacle as 485 international cricketing stars from 22 countries have enlisted for the highly anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 Player Draft, slated for December 13 at Lahore’s National Cricket Academy.
The player pool boasts a stellar lineup, including 46 talents in the prestigious Platinum category and 76 contenders in the Diamond category, showcasing a robust blend of seasoned veterans and promising emerging talents.
Notable names gracing the foreign player roster encompass England’s batting prowess with Dawid Malan and Reeza Hendricks, both ranked within the ICC Men’s T20I top 10 batsmen. Rilee Rossouw, ranked fifth globally, has already made a transition from Multan Sultans to Quetta Gladiators.
The bowling arsenal is enriched by the presence of Maheesh Theekshana from Sri Lanka, Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Akeal Hosein, the left-arm spinner from West Indies, all securing their places among the top 10 T20I bowlers. Joining them is Mohammad Nabi, an esteemed all-rounder and world number two in T20Is.
England dominates the foreign player registration, with 158 players signing up, followed by West Indies (58), Sri Lanka (40), Afghanistan (36), South Africa (30), Bangladesh (21), and New Zealand (18), among others. The draft pool also features a notable representation from associate member countries.
The Platinum category showcases a galaxy of cricketing luminaries including Daniel Sams, Ashton Agar from Australia, England’s Chris Jordan, David Willey, Dawid Malan, and Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka among other formidable talents.
In the Diamond category, Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi, Bangladesh’s Mahmudullah, England’s Ollie Pope, New Zealand’s Martin Guptill, South Africa’s Lungi Ngidi, and West Indies’ Shai Hope and Roston Chase are some of the prominent names.
