TransGroup FZE Acquires PSL International Media Rights, Sees 41% Increase in Value

In a groundbreaking development, TransGroup FZE has secured the international media rights for the ninth and tenth editions of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The acquisition marks a significant milestone, with a remarkable 41% increase in the value of the rights compared to previous years.

The bidding process witnessed participation from six prominent parties, including ARY Communications/Myco, IMC (also known as GEO), SuperSport, Willow TV (also known as Times Internet), and Flow Sports. Ultimately, TransGroup FZE emerged victorious, obtaining the rights for all regions except Pakistan, covering both TV broadcast and live-streaming services.

Unlike previous arrangements where international rights were bundled with the Future Tours Programme (FTP), this deal exclusively focuses on the Pakistan Super League. This strategic shift underscores the global appeal and growing stature of the PSL on the international stage.

Naila Bhatti, the League Commissioner, expressed her enthusiasm over the record-breaking sale of international media rights, emphasizing the widespread allure of the PSL in overseas territories. She highlighted the league’s exponential growth beyond Pakistan’s borders, reflecting its ever-expanding global fan base.

Rao Usman Hashim, the Chief Operating Officer of TransGroup, voiced pride in the acquisition of the global media rights for the upcoming PSL editions. As Pakistan’s leading sports business group, TransGroup has been a steadfast supporter of the PSL since its inception, consistently striving to deliver maximum value for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the PSL franchise teams.

With TransGroup FZE at the helm of the international media rights, the PSL is poised to reach new heights of global viewership and engagement, promising an exhilarating showcase of cricketing excellence in the years to come.
