Shakeel, who contributed 76 runs to the scoreboard, shared insights into his own batting approach, revealing that he used the match as an opportunity to prepare for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh by experimenting with risky shots. “My innings was quite simple, I wanted to apply the things in this match that I need to implement in the upcoming matches. I was taking limited risks, focusing on the shots that might be needed later, and I planned today’s innings with all that in mind. Unfortunately, I couldn’t convert it into a century, but overall, I really enjoyed batting today,” he explained.

Umar Amin’s impressive innings, which included 23 boundaries and a six, anchored Pakistan Shaheens’ innings, helping them reach a total of 367/4 in 90 overs by the end of Day 2, leading by 245 runs. Shakeel emphasized the importance of Amin’s experience, describing him as a valuable asset to the team, especially for the younger players who benefit from his guidance and mentorship. “Umar Amin is a very experienced player, and having him in the dressing room is quite helpful for the youngsters because he is a great person off the field as well and often guides the young players. Overall, he’s having a good time, and what was special about his innings today was that his strokes were visible all around the ground, and he batted with great command. It was really enjoyable, and I also enjoyed batting with him,” Shakeel concluded.
