Up close and Personal with Wajdan of Heer Maan Ja – Faizan Sheikh

Q.1. What’s your favorite line of dialogue or scene from Heer Maan Ja?

Ans. My favorite dialogue is, ‘Tu jaanta hai main haarta kyun nahi hun? Kyun kay main nay haarna seekha hi nahi hai!’ but my favorite scene is the one on which the movie ends. I wouldn’t want to post a spoiler, but one more scene that is really close to my heart is when I go to Heer’s mom and say that I am going to kill Heer. That calmness and composure that Wajdaan portrays as he gives that threat is fantastic.

Q.2. Tell us about your experience with the team of Heer Maan Ja – how was your experience with them?

Ans. The experience was amazing with them as always! In Parchi I performed for the first time with them, but I enjoyed more this time since I had a larger role to play, so my shooting days were more. This time I made sure that I am available in the whole process of making a film since I spent more time with them. They are very professional when it comes to work and they are very humble! Hareem, Ali, Azfar Bhai, Imran, they are all really nice and any one would love to work with them. They pamper you so well, that you want to give your best every time. They are actually more like a family to me, especially after spending all this time in promotions with them!

Q.3. If you weren’t Wajdaan, what other role from Heer Maan Ja would you have wanted to do?

Ans. If I had an option of selecting my own character, I would like to play Jerry, because his jokes are really funny and everyone would fall in love with him. But the fact is that nobody can do better than Mojiz! He really did a fantastic job!

Q.4. Tell us about your character in Heer Maan Ja.

Ans. My character in Heer Maan Ja is that of Wajdaan, the antagonist, who is basically a spoiled brat. The excessive love he gets from home has ruined him as a person, and he has no conscience. An incident happens in the movie where he should have faced consequences, but his parents support him saying that he has got money and power and so he can easily get away with anything. He wouldn’t care about the system and he thinks he can get away with anything any time. It’s basically a journey of Wajdaan’s personality where even in flashback you can see him getting scared many times but still he does whatever he wants to. However, we have kept him very human and much relatable to how real life villains look like.

Q.5.Tell us one of your best strengths as an actor, and one weakness that you would like to overcome.

Ans. My biggest strength as an actor is how I weigh a script that is offered to me. I don’t check how big the script is, but I figure out what my contribution would be to the story of the film. Many times people want main characters and lead hero roles, but what I think is that if any character gives a valuable enough message, it is good enough. I would not call it a weakness in me, but as far as that is concerned about my career, I think playing an antagonist’s role might limit me since people would want to see me in similar roles. However, I would like to make sure I experiment and diversify my portfolio.

Q.6. Who is your inspiration, and why?

Ans. I’ve so many people I have gained inspiration from. It doesn’t have to be someone from your own field, you can derive it from anyone around you. As far as acting is concerned Faisal Qureshi, Saleem Mairaj and Qawi Sahab are absolutely amazing.

Q.7. One suggestion or advice you would like to give to your fans.

Ans. There is no such suggestion, but yes, I would like to thank my fans for their appreciation. Many people have supported and applauded me for the role of Wajdaan and I am truly humbled. Yes, one advice would be not to be too quick to judge actors. Even if we gain popularity, we still have our own families and responsibilities and we are humans. We would love to see our fans and followers understand that about us.

Q.8. What do you do when you’re not acting? What does your free time look like?

Ans. When I am off, I try to catch up with good content. I always have a long list of movies I need to watch, and it is updated regularly by my brothers and friends. My holiday means watching a whole lot of movies.

Q.9. What’s next for you? Any other projects in the pipeline?

Ans. There are a few more projects in the pipeline, but I need a little break after the tireless promotions of Heer Maan Ja. I want to give my time to my shows for now, but there are projects in the works that I will share with you all as soon as I can.
