Amidst the various narratives on air these days, there are only a few that manage to grasp the audience’s attention with their first look. 7th Sky Entertainment’s latest drama serial Uraan is amongst those serials these days that are keeping us utterly hooked since they went on-air. Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi led 7th Sky Entertainment is setting the bar high with every new project, and in Uraan they make sure that the kind of quality entertainment that the audience looks for these days is provided to them.
Penned down by the brilliant Jahanzaib Qamar, and directed by Shaqielle Khan, Uraan explores the themes of greed, disloyalty, and deception. It also highlights how selfish people who have big aspirations in life and disregard others’ feelings while trying to climb up the ladder of success fall flat on the ground. The plot is quite an extensive one with so many interesting interwoven stories and tracks.
Uraan revolves mainly around the life of a girl Malika, played by the beautiful Kinza Hashmi, who belongs to a middle-class family. Like her name, Malika aspires to live her life like a queen with all the luxuries around her in life. Her mother, who has brought her children up by running a small stitching business in the house and had worked hard all her life, tries to make her understand how wrong she is to seek material happiness, but she pays no heed to her advice. On the other hand, her brother Aqeel is also searching for shortcut ways to break free from their economic situation and has no regard for what his mother guides him. Their younger sister Manahil is, however, quite different from the brother-sister duo.
Malika is engaged to her cousin Asim, but she leaves no chance to insult him since he does not meet her wealth, status, and lifestyle standards. Asim, played by Adeel Chaudhry, is a simple guy who loves Malika with all his heart and soul, but Malika has no regard for his feelings. She loves her university classmate Nooriyan, who has given her the impression that he belongs to a wealthy family. In contrast, Nooriyan is the son of the maid of Atif Nawaz (played by the talented Aijaz Aslam), a man who runs an advertising agency and gives Nooryan all the luxuries that he shows off to Malika as his own.
Atif somehow comes across Malika and convinces her to begin her modeling career against a huge sum of money, which she agrees to but hides it from everyone. Atif seems like a shady character, but we will have to wait to find out more about him. Aijaz Aslam has given Atif’s character the right treatment, and we look forward to more of him in the upcoming episodes.
Overall, Uraan has got an impressive start, and it is all set to rule the 9 PM slot. The characters have been well-introduced, and the direction has been absolutely top-notch. The performances, the interwoven tracks, the storyline, and the OST all make it an intriguing serial that will keep us hooked. Thumbs up to 7th Sky Entertainment for bringing us another amazing serial for the 9 PM slot on Geo Entertainment from Monday to Friday!
