Broadcast journalist and TV anchor, Maria Memon is always very vocal about women’s rights and violence against women in Pakistan. Recently, she was a guest on Mohammad Malick’s show on Hum News, where she explained one of the core issues of the ongoing social crisis in Pakistan.
Speaking in the Hum News show, Maria said:
“We keep on talking about empowering our girls, but who will teach our sons to co-exist with these empowered girls. And that is one of the pertinent isues of the ongoing social crisis of Pakistan that we must adress without wasting any further time.”
Commenting on this Hum News’ breakfast show host, Shiffa Yousafzai said:
“It’d take 10-20 years to produce such parents who would teach their sons to co-exist with empowered girls and then for them to act upon this teaching. Find it to be a long-term objective that we can achieve if we start today”
Maria Memon is part of the media industry since 2008, she started her career as a field reporter for Geo English. She has been part of top news channels such as Geo, Bol, and ARY News. In her 13 years long career she hosted various TV shows and transmissions. ‘Geo Pakistan’, ‘Mere Mutabiq’ on Geo, and ‘News@3’ & ‘Sawal Yeh Hai’ are some names to her credit.
In 2013, Maria Memon also released her documentary film, “Muslims in America” for Geo News. In 2015, Maria Memon joined ARY News.
Maria Memon is a Software Engineer by education and has also been CNN Fellow Journalist in the year 2011.
