A breathtaking century by Yasir Ali and a dominant bowling performance by Mohammad Ali propelled Stallions to a resounding 75-run victory over Markhors in the final of the Champions T20 Cup at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Stallions Dominate with Bat and Ball
Opting to bat first, Stallions posted a formidable 199-5 in their 20 overs, thanks to Yasir Ali’s masterclass. The opener smashed a scintillating 100 off 57 balls, featuring seven towering sixes and five boundaries.
The innings got off to a flying start as Maaz Sadaqat struck the first ball for a six. Yasir took charge with aggressive strokeplay, capitalizing on a dropped catch by Akif Javed when he was on 12. The 22-year-old from Bannu brought up his century with two consecutive sixes, anchoring the innings with partnerships that included a 41-run stand with skipper Mohammad Haris (21). Late fireworks by Jahandad Khan (22 off 10)* pushed the total close to 200.
In reply, Markhors crumbled under pressure, managing just 124 all out in 19.1 overs. The chase relied heavily on Fakhar Zaman, but his early dismissal for 20 to Jahandad Khan set the tone.
Mohammad Faizan (43 off 33) offered brief resistance, while skipper Iftikhar Ahmed (22 off 21) failed to convert his start. The rest of the batting lineup faltered, with Usman Tariq (2-10) and Jahandad Khan (2-31) complementing Mohammad Ali’s match-winning 3-19.
Stallions Cement Legacy
With this comprehensive victory, Stallions added another title to their illustrious T20 history, showcasing a blend of power-packed batting and disciplined bowling. For Markhors, it was their second heartbreak in a final this year, having lost the Champions Cup One-Day Final in Faisalabad earlier.
The tournament showcased exceptional talent, with players like Yasir Ali and Mohammad Ali setting benchmarks for future editions.
