Pakistan former captain Younis Khan, in his recent media statement, has said that he would like to retire from ODI Cricket with honour, He said that he knows very well that there is no chance for him to play until ICC World Cup 2019.

Younis Khan said,

“I can leave at anytime, I am trying to – whenever I feel is right – leave on my own terms and conditions. At the age I am at, I have to decide very quickly what I want to do.”

Younis was selected for the ODI squad against England for the first time since the 2015 World Cup.

He further added

“If you look at my career, a player like myself should leave the game with honour as I left Twenty20 that was really appreciated.”

He also siad that he has been looking for the right time to leave the ODI team since the 2011 World Cup. That tournament marked the last time he was a feature in the side. Younis Khan said:

“I thought if the stage was right at the World Cup, if I was playing, then I would retire. But I didn’t get that opportunity. Now, since then I’ve been pushing myself again, I’ve been pushing selectors again. I’m really happy I have an opportunity. I want to come now and at my own moment of choosing, retire.”
